Contribute to the evolution of Grisbi
No matter if you're a simple user or a developer, you can help making Grisbi better.
In many ways (contact.html). It's wrong to think that you have to be a programmer to participate in a free software project (I'm a perfect example, my adventure started with a simple bug-report...), and every little bit of help is very welcome !
You have to keep in mind that a free software existe above all for the sake of it's users. The first user usually being the first developer...
That's nice, but how do I do ?
Here is a list of some of the areas in which your help would be very welcome :
- Raising your expectations :
- New functions,
- Changes to the user interface,
- anything that would make it easier to use Grisbi...
- Reporting malfunctions :
This is the most imortant area in which help is needed !
Even though all versions are tested before their release, a tricky bug might have slipped past our control... If you fall vicitim to one, report the observed malfunction in the most exhaustive manner possible via the bugtracker (reporting bugs elsewhere means extra work for the developers).
- Participating in tests :
During the development and just before the release of a new version, beta-testers are most welcome. They help finding bugs and give their opinion on the interface and functionality.
No need to be a developer, you just need to be able to compile the program. And like taking risks ;o).
If you want to help in this area, announce yourself on the developer list, you will be added it if you're not already on it, and you will be added to the testing group in the bugtracker.
- Participating in the translations :
From version 0.4.1, Grisbi is multiligual (french and english in 0.4.1).
All help is very welcome in translating Grisbi to other languages.
If you want to join the translation effort, announce yourself on the translation list.
- Participating in the development :
You might :- participate in the active developement,
- construct the binaries for your distribution or system,
- help in porting (to BSD, other UNIX-like systems and why not MS Windows)...
- Spreading the word :
If you like Grisbi, let others know !
The more users, the more is the program likely to evolve in terms of funcionality and usability.
- Sharing your experience :
The usenet forums was created to offer a place for users to discuss Grisbi, do not hesitate to participate if you want to exchange tips or ways of managing your accounts. As the proverb says : « The more the merrier... » ;o).
